Some Pictures!

Modern Cloth Nappies! I need more of these but they are expensive at first, they work out cheaper in the long run though (than disposables) especially if you have more than one child.. I need to save up for some more! So cute and they look easy to use......

The Countdown

I can't believe I only have about 5-7 weeks left before we have a baby!!! I have only one antenatal class left and sadly Will won't be joining me :(

It will be about nappy changing, SIDS and sleeping, baby wrapping and what to do with the baby during the first 6 weeks. I like the Mater, I haven't had the baby yet so I will report back once I give birth but so far I really like the place. Our midwife educator, Sue, is really nice, she tends to repeat herself often. Plus the sandwiches they put out for supper are really nice.

Last week we saw a baby boy, he was only 30 mins old! So small and cute, his dad proudly showing him off. We also saw another little baby, she was 3 days old and so small and red! They look so fragile and break-able, hopefully Will and I don't ever drop the baby.

Will and a few friends are going to be setting up the nursery on 14 June which is exciting, at the moment everything is just sitting on the floor in their bags in the spare room.

I've only made a few small purchases since my last post, a new set of Ikea drawers and some face washers to wipe poo poo off the baby's bum. Today I need to get some Cetaphil as the Mater midwives don't recommend Johnsons and Johnsons or any other baby brands. This is great because I use Cetaphil myself and Sorbelene cream, so does Will. We will be a sharing family.

I have to see Dr Tan every week soon!!! It seriously feels like yesterday that I was about 10 weeks.. now I am reaching the 33 week mark.

I haven't had any swollen legs but I do have fat calves and I am feeling a strain on my back.... but I have a really nice lavender smelling hot pack so everything is fine!

Only 6 to 8 weeks to go..

I just bought a Moses basket to use as a bassinet for a little while and a portable carrier, they are beautiful but there is not a lot of variety here in Australia :(

Anyway I bought one from Gertie and me, the lady that owns the store is really nice!

It was quite pricey but hopefully future children will use it too... It's an investment!

My first antenatal class

I went to my first antenatal class on Thursday, it went on for 3 hours at the Mater hospital and I think I was the youngest person there and I'm not a spring chicken. There were a lot of yummy mummies as the educator calls them... she says that yummy mummies come from Mosman. I think I looked like a single mum cos Will couldn't make it, he had to work... maybe my fellow pregnant ladies will see me as a slighly older Asian version of Juno or Jamie Lynn Spears.

3 hours of education--> baby positions, when to come to hospital, what my uterus is doing etc etc I won't go into too much detail unless requested. The best bit was the supper, yummy tuna or salmon sandwiches, the reminded me of the sandwiches I used to have when I was a kid, I think they mix tomato sauce and a little mayo together and add it to the tuna or salmon, it was delish. I also had some cheese and crackers! YUM! The guy next to me ate about 50 crackers, no joke.. I think he was really bored, he kept cracking his fingers and his toes and snorting up his snot and swallowing.. so gross.

The educator also reminded us that lots of babies are born in toilets like the one recently born at RNSH, I suppose this is to remind us not to sue them or appear on shows like Today Tonight if our babies are born on the dunny. She added that if we were really worried about babies being born on the dunny we can place a towel over the seat to catch if they just happen to pop out.

Next week is support person lesson, so glad Will can make it!

I have a Chinese name, not many people like it but I do cos it has meaning and plus I like the lady who holds the name so it's very dear to me.

Still no middle name though....... I was thinking about Beatrice or Beatrix, I really like Beatrix!

My last blog..

Was a long time ago!

I haven't blogged in ages but I am back!

I'm having a baby shower which I'm really excited about because not only do I get to see all my friends but I also get to eat cupcakes. I love cupcakes!

I have about 2 months until the shower so I'm going to try make my own cupcakes and decorate them really nicely.. with little edible flowers etc.

I wish I was really good at making cakes cos I'd love to make a cake like the one above, it's so cute! But I have no idea how to make or use fondant.. too hard to make it nice and smooth like a wedding cake.
Anyway I have another Doc appointment this Tuesday, will find out if I have gestational diabetes, I hope not. I had my blood tests for it a few weeks ago, it was ok. I had to drink a really lovely sugar drink which tasted like Sprite.. so yummy. Afterwards they took my blood. I went to the clinic in St Ives, I must have looked like a giant hobo cos they asked me if I could afford to pay for the blood tests and whether I was on any concessions, pensions, welfare; they were really nice about it too! I said I wasn't on any pension etc so they said they would send the invoice to my address... I got the invoice last week.. $168.35. I should have said I couldn't afford to pay the invoice.. what do they do? Do they deny me the blood tests? I would probably have to get them done at a public hospital? Anyway, the ladies that take blood at St Ives are really good, I didn't feel any pain, so highly recommended.
Since the last blog I have grown fatter and bought two pairs of maternity jeans from Jeanswest which were a bargain at 2 for $99. The only problem is.... after the first wash they have stretched soooo mcuh, they feel like a size 16 now and I have troubles keeping them up.
I'm also a lot hungrier, I want to eat every hour or so, I'm especially loving Uncle Toby's porriage with creamy honey OHHH YUMMERS!
Also went shopping with my mum at David Jones Chatswood and bought lots and lots of baby clothes, on sale and really cute! I love the Fred Bare clothing range. Have also bought lots of Grobags and was ripped off buying Bonds baby socks, they are approx. $6 at David Jones and $2 at Toys R Us and Big W. Must remember for next time.
Anyway thank God I have made it to 28 weeks! YAH! Babies can be born anytime now and have a good chance of survival! YAH!

My Pumpkin Patch

Parcel arrived!! With only 2 of the 4 items I had ordered... no jeans and no khaki slacks :(

Anywy, found out this week that one of my high school friends is also pregnant! Yah! We are going to be pregnant at the same time, can't wait for her to visit Australia (in London at the moment) in July!! We can go shopping together and compare baby bumps (unless I deliver early).

Seems like everyone is pregnant at the moment :)

I really need to start doing my little pelvic floor exercises and eat more vegies! I've been eating plenty of fruit and eggs, mm I love eggs. My mum's friend sells 30 fresh eggs for $5, what a bargain!

I got my cloth nappy deliveries! They are so cute! So tiny and really soft........

We have a first name.... still need a middle name! and my mum is thinking of a Chinese name for us, seeing as I can't speak Chinese (properly) and I can't read or write any Chinese.

25 weeks and 5 days, only 100 days to go!

More Purchases

Bought quite a few things this week!

Went to David Jones at Chatswood and bought:

1. 2 Mama & Papas Dreampod sleeping bags
2. 2 Living Textiles sleeping bags

David Jones Hornsby:

1. Natural coloured cot sized Australian Merino wool blanket (it's so nice and soft).
2. 1 set of Bubba Blue cot sheet in flannel (yellow with little animals on it--> so cute).
3. Kapoochi Nappy Bag

Target Chatswood:

I went to Target Chatswood for the Zac Posen collection but held off buying anymore dresses (I really like the collection though). Anyway ended up buying a Steelcraft 3 wheeled jogger for Will. It was on special! $299.95 down to $75.01, what a bargain!

Will has been wanting a jogger cos he wants to take the baby to the City to Surf in August 2009.

It's a huge jogger though, all 3 wheelers look so big! I think I will stick to my Peg Perego Venezia, I like it cos it's so cute and compact.

Baby Beehinds- Ebay

Bought 5 more Medium sized cloth nappies in Marine Green from Baby Beehind on Ebay (they are new! I don't think I could use 2nd hand cloth nappies, it's a little like 2nd hand underwear?). They are so cute and $15 each with free postage!

Going out for dinner tonight, having Thai food!

Still no sign on my Pumpkin Patch order...... don't think I will be shopping at Pumpkin Patch ever again.

Will take photos soon!
