Song Lyrics and Drowning.

Back when I was in high school I used to feel as though some songs were written just for me. Not anymore.

However for a long time I've really liked one line in a song I heard many years ago, it went like this... "I'm drowning not waving".                 

I have no idea who sung the song, what it's called or what it's about but I still remember that line. I feel like that sometimes, like I'm drowning but I've been mistaken for waving.

I have experienced near drowning before, it was at Wet n Wild, Queensland in the wave pool. The sad thing is, the waves were artificial (that is, created by a wave making machine), I could have escaped myself (it's not like I can't swim, I've attended swimming lessons every summer since I was about 9 years old) but I put up my arm and started waving to the lifeguard. He didn't come to save me, I think he thought I was mocking him. I got out safely by myself by swimming under the waves but I still remember that I'm drowning feeling. 

BTW if anyone knows the song and artist please let me know.

US Open 2008

What will I remember about this years US Open? It won't be Nadal being beaten by Murray or that Andy Roddick was nowhere to be seen, it will my husband working a night shift, coming home, not sleeping, waiting until 2:10am to watch the Fed game.

What amazes me is.. my husband is willing to fight sleepiness, wait hours for a game, watch the game until roughly 4am then crawl into bed with only his boxers on. As he falls asleep, he tells me Fed won and he is cold. I ask him why he doesn't put on his PJs, he says they are in the bathroom and he can't be bothered. 

Our apartment isn't very big, it would take him about 5 seconds to walk to the bathroom and another 10 seconds to put on his PJs and save himself from the cold night. But he can't be bothered, though he can be bothered to resist sleep for a tennis game. 

At about 9am our baby woke up having done a giant plop plop and wanting some food, my husband usually changes her nappy and I feed her. This morning, my husband asked me nicely whether I could please change her nappy because he was so cold. 

I did, because he was tired, cold and because I couldn't stop laughing. Will! Sometimes I just don't understand how his mind works.

A sudden change...

What's this? A sudden blog direction change? Why yes indeed it is!

Do you ever feel as though your life is like a giant comedy show? I do. 

3 Weeks Old today

Emmanuelle is exactly 3 weeks old today and getting bigger and fatter, which is a real relief. Maybe when she is over 4 kgs I will let her out of this house more often, at the moment it's so cold and rainy, it's best to have her inside her roasty little bassinet.

She was sleeping in a Moses basket for her first week and a half but I have decided it wasn't too comfy for her, she sleeps much better in her bassinet.

She still causes me endless worries, I think she has a lot of reflux and wind and it's so hard to burp her. She constantly moves her end from side to side when she is uncomfy and she has little coughs after feeds which I always think is some kind of lung disease but apparently it's somewhat normal.

She doesn't cry when settled, she just lies in bed looking around, which I feel guilty about.. I think she might feel abandoned or something but I have to resist the urge to pick her up all the time cos it's unsettles her.

I need to find the perfect way of burping her!

She has noisy breathing sometimes and makes the weirdest noises when sleeping which of course worries me again, I think she is going to stop breathing or vomit and choke in her sleep! But I keep praying for her that she will be okay and that I will stop worrying.......

At the moment, she hates being undressed and cold and having her nappy changed... she normally doesn't cry except when she is hungry or her nappy needs changing but she sure can scream when we change her nappies.

She smiles (grins) now! I've heard it's not actually cos she is happy but cos she has wind!! But I like to think she is happy cos she is content.

Everyday Hero Page

We had our baby shower a few weeks ago and it was plenty of fun! The best bits were seeing our friends (some we don't get to see very often) and playing with all the little children that came along!

At the party, Will and I were given lots of really cute and beautiful baby gifts! I still need to take photos and post them on this blog (they already feature on our Facebook page). Lots of cute little clothes, our baby will be very well dressed :)

We've also had so many friends and family wanting to buy us gifts or give us money, very generous! But we really don't need anything, we have more than enough. We discovered Everyday Hero and were very excited when we saw that Crusaders was one on the charities we could support.

As stated on their website:

Crusaders is a not-for profit Christian youth organisation established in 1930, running over 50 CRU Holiday Camps per year for students in school years 3-12. With over 2400 campers and over 700 volunteer leaders they are the largest provider of Christian holiday camps in Australia.

WillnDan are expecting their first baby on 20 July 2008, God willing everything goes well! Flemington Direct

I've already posted this on my Facebook page but I thought I might include here on the blog as well as it's related to baby stuff! Seeing as a baby will restrict my movements for awhile, I discovered Flemington Direct, a fruit and vegetables delivery service.

I've noticed that the fruit and vegetables at Woolworths and Coles have been a bit blah lately, so I've started buying from Flemington Direct again. This week, Will and I ordered a Movers box, a box of fruit and vegs recommended for singles and couples... it cost us $47 including delivery.

This is what we got:

- 1 Rockmelon


- 1 packet of bean sprouts


- 2 Japanese pumpkin quarters


- 1 red capsicum


- 1 yellow/orange capsicum


- 1 eggplant


- 4 zucchinis


- 1 big Baby Bok Choy


- 1 packet of green beans


- 1 bunch of shallots


- 1/2 celery bunch


- 3 passionfruits


- 9 potatoes


- 1/2 cauliflower


- 8 red apples


- 6 bananas


- 2 broccoli heads


- 8 pears


- 7 mandarins


- 4 tomatoes

I was having troubles getting my order through the Internet so I called their Customer Service line, she helped me put through my order and told me that I if I wanted more fruits and vegies I should take out items that take up a lot of room like lettuce and celery as they go by how much they can fix in the box rather than what goes into the box.... Sounded good to me cos Will and I don't eat a lot of salads in winter... so I added some baby bok choy, an eggplant and some shallots.. plus a rockmelon... the default fruit would have been a pineapple (I have no idea how to cut open a pineapple nor do I want to know, I just eat the canned variety usually on top of a pizza).

I would have liked more bananas, so next time I will ask for 2 servings.. or head over to a local fruit store.

In other news.. Babies Galore is having a sale! Yah I need to pick up a mattress protector and a cot sized Living Textiles quilt (I have the cover but no quilt!).

Small Baby

I am up to week 34/35, we went for an ultrasound last week and have found that our baby is on the small size, at birth she should weigh about 2.6- 2.8kgs.. at first I was quite anxious (I admit I still am!) but the doctor has said it's due to the baby being a girl and cos we are Asian (he is Asian himself and his own baby girls weighed 2.6 and 2.7 kgs)... anyway I have to go for another ultrasound next week to make sure the baby is still growing and also visit the Mater Hospital every weekend for CGT (?) scans.....we keep praying that God keeps the baby well and that we keep trusting Him!

Anyway at the ultrasound it was confirmed... the baby is indeed a girl! YAH!
